Description
Late 19th c., shaped mirror glass framed by giltwood foliate scrolls. The particular shape with “Rocaille” friezes with floral motifs in Louis XV style is further embellished by the presence of two gilt metal arms topped with candle cups. This pair of mirrors is nicely balanced in shape and detail. Candlelight reflected off mirrored glass gives off a romantic light and we all know that candlelight is very flattering on the complexion! Dimensions: 32″h x 18″w Condition: Good. Wear consistent with age and use. There are some scattered nicks and rubbing to finish There appear to be a few break repairs. The mirror glass is clean and likely replaced. Show well. Ready to hang. Provenance: A Private Collection: The Carlyle Hotel, NYC
